Mustafa Ataturk had a great impact on the war and Turkey during his 15 years as President. Because of his marriage in 1923 he allowed women to vote for parliamentary members which made Turkey more modern by giving them the same rights as men. One of the most important things he has done was founding the Republic of Turkey in general. After the war he reunited the people and the sultan put Ataturk in charge of the new Country after he had resigned in 1922. One of his main concerns was to modernize Turkey to be like the rest of the world so he replaced the religious officials with modern bureaucracy and put a end to Caliphate which was an Islamic state that was helping extremists.
